Prior to the consultation, we ask that you review certain notices required by law that discuss the various bankruptcy options and download and bring with you to the consultation an executed consultation agreement and receipt. The Law Firm of Karen L. Grant specializes in assisting clients in bankruptcy matters and debt workouts. I represent both debtors and creditors in cases ranging from complex Chapter 11 bankruptcy reorganization proceedings to Chapter 13 individual debt adjustment plans and Chapter 7 liquidation bankruptcy cases filed in Santa Barbara, California and the surrounding areas.
Despite the sweeping changes made to the Bankruptcy Code under the Bankruptcy Abuse Prevention and Consumer Protection Act (BAPCPA) of 2005, bankruptcy relief is still available to most individuals. Depending on which type of bankruptcy relief is available to you, bankruptcy may stop a pending foreclosure, repossession or wage garnishment, discharge certain debts or allow you to catch up on arrearages owed to your lenders. In certain circumstances you may even be able to strip off a second mortgage on property whose value has fallen below what is owed against it. Karen L. Grant has been a Certified Specialist in Bankruptcy Law by the State Bar of California, Board of Legal Specialization since 1995. She has been in practice since 1985 and has limited her practice to bankruptcy and debt workouts since 1989.
